4th Gen MX-5 Side Skirt Reinforcement Bracket

This reinforcement bracket is the 2nd version from the original design that still is specifically designed to insert (without hardware or drilling) inside of existing grooves of the MX-5 side skirts in a way to prevent the side skirt from sliding rearward in the event that a sudden impact breaks the OEM clips allowing the panels to slide rearward and detach from the body.

This is a 10 piece system (5 on each side) with 3 different size brackets (RB2A, RB2B, and RB2C) that "snap" into place in-between the side step molding and OEM clips. Below is a detailed instruction guide on the recommended installation procedure.

These brackets have been installed on my own 2017 Mazda MX-5 Club and has been verified through testing on-course that these brackets prevent the side step moldings from sliding back upon impact. Due to this particular material and design of these NEW brackets, the energy can be absorbed and distributed throughout the length of the side step molding brackets which means less stress concentrating on the very weak OEM fastening clips.

These clips can remain on the car permanently if desired, or be removed quickly for disassembly of the step step molding and side skirts when needed. If manufacturing tolerances of the side-step molding brackets or previous damage from the side skirt molding clips are preventing these brackets from staying in place, then the design can be modified accordingly for special case scenarios.
